There are no sure-fire answers to this question, because no two cars, even brand new from the dealers lot, run at the exact same temperature in the same conditions. First you must determine what temperature your engine oil, transmission fluid or radiator coolant really is operating at. If your car or truck is equipped with a traditional “C-H” temperature gauge, it is difficult to determine- and if you are relying on a “dummy light” by the time you know there is a problem in many cases it is too late to do anything except minimize the damage already being done.
